Day 4 Travel Day

Today we hop on a train which whisks us the breadth of Sweden to Oslo, the capital of Norway. The journey takes us through peaceful Swedish landscapes, where shimmering lakes, dense pine forests, and rolling farmland unfold before us. Upon arrival we'll settle into our hotel and then embark on an orientation walk followed by dinner together.

Day 5 Walking tour, Vigeland

We’ll spend the morning getting acquainted with Oslo with a local guide who will teach us about its past and present. Then we’ll ride the tram to visit the unique Vigeland Sculpture Park together. This unique park is a breathtaking open-air gallery, where over 200 expressive bronze and granite figures capture the beauty, struggle, and rhythm of human life amidst sweeping lawns and tree-lined paths.

You’ll be free to explore Oslo for the rest of the afternoon. We can orgnize a classic Scandinavian sauna experience for those interested.

Day 6 Walking tour, Waffle

This morning we head out on another neighborhood walk of Oslo, exploring charming streets, the Akerselva river and other local spots. This will be a chance for Pal to get us off the beaten path and, as a local, show us a more personalized side of Oslo. We end by sampling an authentic Norwegian snack: waffle. They are typically heart-shaped and delicately crisp at the edges and traditionally topped with sour cream and sweet berry jam for a simple yet irresistible treat. Day 7 Mountains, Folk Museum

We begin today with a private coach, driving north out of Oslo and up into the mountainous interior. We'll wind past sparkling lakes and lush valleys, gradually climbing into a world of towering peaks, cascading waterfalls, and timeless villages nestled against dramatic alpine landscapes. Our first stop is the Maihaugen Open Air Folk Museum, one of the best in Norway. A living showcase of Norway’s past, it boasts 200+ historic buildings brought to life by costumed guides, craft demonstrations, and the charm of everyday life across the centuries. Later we’ll drive up the Gudbrandsdalen valley and arrive at our countryside retreat.

Day 8 Local farm visit, hike

At Imprint we always strive to provide as many authentic cultural connection experiences as possible during out tours. To get an up close and personal understanding of UNESCO protected farming traditions in Norway, we’ll visit an old seter (mountain farm), where we'll be hosted by a local farmer. We'll assemble a picnic for our lunch. For those interested, we'll organize an easy afternoon hike.

Day 9 Scenic drive, Stave church, orientation, Smorgesbord

Today is another scenic driving day over the Sognefjellet Mountain Pass. A morning stop will allow us to learn about Norwegian Stave churches. These wooden masterpieces date back to the Middle Ages, boast intricate carvings, and steep shingled roofs that evoke a sense of medieval spirituality. They blend Viking artistry with Christian tradition, standing as symbols of Norway’s cultural heritage. Underway again, we’ll make plenty of photo stops as we sweep down from snowcapped mountain passes to shimmering blue fjords. We'll enjoy a picnic lunch by a fjord, a classic Norwegian idyll. The epic scenery continues as we motor along the fjord to the charming village of Balestrand. After settling into our hotel we'll partake of the famous buffet at Hotel Kviknes.

Day 10 RIB tour, Finnabotn, Cider tasting

After breakfast we’ll hop on a high-speed inflatable boat (RIB) and cruise on the fjord, learn some history of the area and visit the secluded fjord arm of Finnabotn. For lunch we’ll head to the Balestrand Cider House to learn about local cider production and enjoy lunch together.

Day 11 Free Day

Enjoy a day off in Balestrand. Spend your time in the village, or come along for an optional mountain hike. Enjoy a fjord cruise to Fjærland, where you can visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum and the Bøyabreen glacier. Rent an E-bike or take a kayak excursion. For anglers there is the option to fish. Visit St Olaf's church, the Sognafjord Aquarium, or indulge in another suana. Or simply relax and soak in the beauty around you.

Day 12 Ferry, Orientation, Floien funicular

We’ll begin the last leg of our Nordic journey with an early morning express ferry from Balestrand. The scenic cruise is 4 hours and will allow us to explore the coastal highway, taking us to Bergen, where we’ll arrive around noon. We check into the hotel, followed by an orientation walk. Afterwards we ride the funicular to the top of the Fløyen mountain. The news from the top are nothing short of spectacular, even in a country of memorable vistas.

Day 13 Walking tour, Bryggen Museum, final dinner

In the morning our hand-picked local guide will take us on a walking tour of Bergen to learn about the city's seafaring past. You'll have a free afternoon to explore Bergen on your own before we meet up for the final group dinner together, and toast to a great tour of Scandinavia!

Day 14 Tour Over

The tour ends after breakfast. Imprint will assist with airport transfers.

May 17 Day 1 Welcome to Copenhagen

We meet in the afternoon in our hotel for a short welcome meeting before an orientation walk of the neighborhood and enjoying our first dinner together at a local Danish restaurant

Day 2 Walking Tour, Christiansborg, Nordhavn

Today, we'll explore Copenhagen like a local - on foot and by public transportation. We'll start with a walking tour of the Medieval center to learn about the city's origins. Our morning ends with a visit to the Royal Reception Rooms at Christiansborg Palace for insights into the role of the Danish monarchy in contemporary Danish life. In the afternoon, we change scenery with a visit to Nordhavn, the old industrial harbor that has been turned into Copenhagen's newest and most sustainable suburb. And of course we'll make a pastry stop.

Day 3 Viking Museum, sailing, Roskilde Cathedral

Nothing says Scandinavia like the Vikings! Today, we'll take a train to Roskilde, often named the old Viking capital of Denmark, for a thorough introduction to the ancestors of modern Scandinavians. Later, we go sailing on the fjord in a replica Viking ship. In the afternoon we'll visit Roskilde Cathedral, burial site to 500 years of Danish kings and queens. In the evening, we'll dine with the locals at the Absalon Community Centre.

Day 4 Train to Stockholm

After breakfast we'll head to the station to catch our train to Stockholm (included) where we will connect with the main tour.
