Day 1 Embark 3/17

Our journey begins in Ushuaia, Argentina. We’ll board the Magellan Discoverer and sail along the Beagle Channel towards Antarctica. Boarding between 15:00 and 16:00.

Drake Passage

Drake Passage image

Days 2 - 3

We sail towards Antarctica, crossing the famous passage named for Sir Francis Drake, the 16th century British explorer. As we sail you may opt to attend the program of lectures and presentations. With access to expert guides, we’ll watch for wildlife from the glass-enclosed lounge or from the outside decks. After crossing the Antarctic Convergence, the vista changes noticeably as we begin to see icebergs and, eventually, the first sight of Antarctic land.

Antarctica

Days 4 - 7

We will be sailing between the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, viewing ice-filled fjords and spectacular icebergs, while enjoying the company of sea birds, penguins, seals, and whales. From the ship we’ll enjoy spectacular views from the glass-enclosed lounge while sharing our daily adventures. No journey is the same - flexibility is the key to success in Antarctica. The Expedition Team sets the voyage route to take advantage of the ever-changing opportunities provided by nature, crafting a unique and extraordinary experience each time. Possibilities include Paulet Island, Hope Bay, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Deception Island, the Lemaire Channel, or many others. However, we will definitely set foot on the actual Antarctic continent. Each day we’ll disembark by Zodiac to explore the environment with expert polar guides. Between we’ll have the options of lectures and leisure time enjoyed on board.

Days 8 - 9

We return to South America with a northbound crossing of the Drake Passage. Relax and take the time to watch for wildlife or take part in the presentations on Antarctic topics in the lounge.

About this trip

Imprint Tours invites you to join this full-vessel charter. We've embarked upon this endeavor with three other like-minded tour companies, led by personal friends and colleagues. They are Dressler Detours, Mondumo Tours, and Guided By. We all began our travel careers leading tours for Rick Steves' Europe. There we learned not just the mechanics of travel, but the philosophy behind it: smaller groups, intentional pacing, curiosity over checklists, depth over speed. Those early years shaped us, and eventually the companies we built. This voyage will be a convergence of friendship, intention, and place, all in the most extraordinary classroom on Earth. Our collaboration is what adds the 'special sauce' to this adventure. You'll be sharing an entire ship with like-minded travelers: a floating community of engaged, intellectually curious travelers who value conversation as much as landscape.
As you expect from Imprint, the cruise includes ALL scheduled excursions, guides, and tips. We’ve partnered with Antarctica 21 and we’ll be sailing on the brand new Magellan Discoverer.

Trip Highlights

·       All-inclusive: All meals (including wine+), excursions, presentations, and lectures are included. As on all Imprint Tours, tips are also included.

·       Wildlife: We expect to see whales, penguins, seals, and many species of birds.

·       Excursions: We will enjoy 2 zodiac excursions per day while in Antarctica. And we will set foot on the Antarctic continent.

·       Polar Plunge: For those who choose, the famous "Polar Plunge" is available.

·       Presentations: A variety of interesting and professional presentations will be given during the cruise.

·       Magellan Discoverer: Our voyage takes place on the brand new, state-of-the-art Magellan Discoverer. The ship features an environmentally friendly hybrid-electric propulsion system and innovative Azipods®, paired with a Corvus battery-based Energy Storage System.
